In an effort to fill the void being left by the closure of the Toronto City Hall Wedding Chambers, we’re offering pop-up options for legal, civil marriarge ceremonies led by professional officiants in fun and interesting venues.

It will provide the same “city hall” wedding experience… but in several different and unique places around the city!

How does this work?

You will book an appointment on a particular day. You will confirm the reservation by paying up front. You show up at the place on the day with your marriage license, two witnesses, and up to 20 guests (sometimes more, depending on the venue). You’ll have the venue for one hour, which is plenty of time for a ceremony, paperwork, photos, etc. (At the city hall chambers, you only have 30 minutes)

Where will these pop-ups take place?

The events will take place at different event spaces, galleries, restaurants, etc. around the city. We will try to visit different neighbourhoods and offer different vibes, while trying to showcase the different character of Toronto neighbourhoods. In all cases, we will create a pleasant, professional atmosphere, and create a memorable wedding experience for you and your guests.

How do I get an appointment?

Fill out the form here, and let us know which date/venue you’re interested in. We will contact you and discuss what appointment options are available, and find an option that suits you. Once we agree, you’ll need to pay in advance to confirm your spot (via etransfer).

Is there a cancellation policy?

You can cancel 30 days ahead of time for a full refund. Within 30 days, a full cancellation will result in the loss of your deposit. We will, however, try to work with you to make use of that payment (another date/location, or private wedding service in another location).

Do I need a wedding gown? Tuxedo? A wedding party?

You can make this as formal, or as informal as you like. Consider picking one of the venue options that fits your style. We’ll have some that are more polished and formal, others that are more urban and gritty. You can wear whatever you like, and make the ceremony your own. A wedding party is optional – only two witnesses are required.

Who will be running these ceremonies?

The weddings will be officiated by the same officiants who (until recently) worked at the City Hall Wedding Chambers. A group called Ministerial Associates ran the chambers for more than 30 years, and we’ve included many of those officiants and their office staff to help run these events. The group in question has literally TENS OF THOUSANDS of weddings under their collective belts, so you’ll be in good hands.

What does it cost?

The price will vary depending on the venue/timing. Ideally, we’ll keep it under $600 – which includes the venue rental, the officiant, and the filing of the legal paperwork. There will be some exceptions… This is a bit more than the City Hall chambers, but we’re doing MUCH less volume and also have to pay our venue hosts!

Can I bring a photographer or videographer?

Is this associated with the City of Toronto at all?

No. These pop-ups are a directly result of the city cancelling the lease for the wedding chambers at city hall. Toronto City Weddings is not associated with the city at all… other than that we do weddings in the city of Toronto.
