The Wedding Day Tug-O-War!
by Don Gerrity
It is something that many do not hear about but it is a fact of any wedding day celebration! Many experience this but never think to mention it after the fact. It is a basic principle but also an important one for both the couple getting married and for the wedding service providers that they choose.
Let's have a little game of tug-o-war shall we? The photographer wants a shot and grabs you by the arm because that is what he is paid to do. At the very same time the video people grab your other arm because they want a different shot because that is what they are paid to do. At the very same time.... the Disc Jockey announces your first dance.
There you have it ! The Wedding Day Tug-o-War ! It is not a fun game however. The wedding day tug-o-war will cause your day to go by very very fast. On your wedding day you will find that it will fly by you at the speed of a jet passing overhead. You hear a loud Rooooaaar and then BAM...you're wedding day is over. With the wedding day tug-o-war going on you may find that you were unable to do some of the things that you wanted on your wedding day such as greeting "all" of the guests.
You cannot avoid this game of tug-o-war no matter how hard you try! You can however, minimize the damage of the game. Try talking to each of your service providers about what to do at "preset" times to lessen confusion among all your service providers. Many times you can get service providers who have worked together before and this can be a great asset as they know how to work well together.
Make sure that you give yourself 1/2 an hour when none of your wedding service providers can disturb you so that you can greet your guests at each table, or do other things that you want to have at your wedding reception. Preparing for the Wedding Day Tug-O-War can help ensure that you get to do as much of the things that you planned on doing.
We hope that this helps you begin your search for the perfect wedding day and wish you all the best in your forth coming marriage!
